Vouvray is a 69 min drive from Romorantin-Lanthenay (96 km), Montlouis-sur-Loire 65 min (89 km). The two appellations face each other across the Loire, with the same grape, Chenin, and cellars cut into the tuffeau stone.

Which cellars to visit in Vouvray and Montlouis?
The two growers' cellars, one per appellation: they bring together wines from many estates and show visitors their galleries.
- Cave des Producteurs de Vouvray (69 min, 96 km): a tour of cellars cut into the tuffeau stone, and a tasting.
- Maison Laudacius in Montlouis-sur-Loire (65 min, 89 km): the Montlouis growers' cellar, with tours, tastings and sales.
To visit a particular grower, the associations publish lists of estates: Vins de Vouvray and AOC Montlouis-sur-Loire. The Vins de Loire wine board presents both appellations.
How do Vouvray and Montlouis differ?
By their bank. Vouvray is on the right bank of the Loire, Montlouis-sur-Loire on the left bank, between the Loire and the Cher. Both appellations work with the same white grape, Chenin, made into dry, off-dry, sweet and sparkling wines. Tasting both on the same day is the best way to form a view.
How to plan the day?
