Three Berry appellations can be visited from Romorantin-Lanthenay: Quincy and Reuilly, each a 44 min drive, and Menetou-Salon at 66 min. Quincy was the first controlled appellation of the Loire Valley, in 1936.

Which Berry vineyards are close to Romorantin?
Quincy and Reuilly, each 44 min from the cottage, then Menetou-Salon at 66 min. All three lie to the south-east, between Vierzon and Bourges.
- Quincy (44 min, 53 km): a village on the Cher and a Sauvignon white wine. It was the first controlled appellation of the Loire Valley, recognised in 1936.
- Reuilly (44 min, 55 km): in the Indre, Sauvignon whites, Pinot Noir reds and Pinot Gris rosés.
- Château de Menetou-Salon (66 min, 72 km): a château and its wine estate, north of Bourges.
Where to find growers who welcome visitors?
On the Vins du Centre-Loire website, the wine board that brings these appellations together with Sancerre. The cellars are family farms: phone before you come, especially during the harvest.
How to plan the day?
Quincy and Reuilly in the morning, ten minutes apart. Lunch in Mehun-sur-Yèvre (42 min from the cottage), beneath the towers of Charles VII's château. In the afternoon, Bourges cathedral (52 min from the cottage) or Menetou-Salon. Our guide to Bourges in a day covers the town.
