Each June the Game Fair, France's main hunting and countryside show, draws more than 100,000 visitors to Lamotte-Beuvron, and nearby accommodation fills up accordingly. Our house in Romorantin-Lanthenay sleeps 6 people, 43 min (41 km) from the show. Pets are welcome and the garden is enclosed.
When and where is the Game Fair held?
The next edition is announced for 11 to 13 June 2027 in Lamotte-Beuvron, in the Loir-et-Cher. The show takes over the Parc équestre fédéral site, 3 km from the Lamotte-Beuvron exit of the A71 motorway.
The Game Fair has been running since 1981 and lasts three days, Friday to Sunday. June 2026 was the 44th edition. Opening times, tickets and the site map are on the official Game Fair website. The organisers announce 40 hectares of free parking. Lamotte-Beuvron station has trains from Paris-Austerlitz. For local services and news during the show, see the Lamotte-Beuvron town hall website.
What is there to see at the Game Fair?
It is France's largest hunting, fishing and countryside show: more than 650 exhibitors in themed villages, with demonstrations all day.
- The hunting village, the heart of the show, with the equipment brands.
- The dog village (breeders, trainers, breed clubs) and the hound village.
- The fishing village, with taster sessions.
- The Vènerie village: hunting horn players, hunt crews, saddlers.
- Clay shooting and the bowhunting village.
- Knife makers, wildlife artists and a village devoted to barbecue and game meat.
On Saturday evening, a show followed by fireworks ends the day. The programme changes every year, so check it before you choose your day.
Can you bring your dog to the Game Fair?
Yes. Dogs on a lead are allowed at the show, provided their vaccination record is up to date. Keep it with you at the entrance.
If you are bringing a dog from the UK or the Netherlands, check the current pet travel rules for France well ahead. In June, heat and crowds tire a dog quickly: bring water, a bowl and plan breaks in the shade. Never leave it in the car.
At the cottage, pets are welcome and the private garden is enclosed, so your dog can stretch its legs after the show. If you are coming with several dogs, ask us before you book. Our guide to staying in the Sologne with a dog has more ideas for outings.
Where can you stay during the Game Fair?
Tent camping is banned on site, inside the grounds and on the car parks. Only self-contained camper vans may park in the designated areas. You therefore need a proper roof.
Hotels and rentals in Lamotte-Beuvron go first. The organisers offer packages through their partners, listed on the show's accommodation page. The other option is to stay 30 to 45 min away, in a house with room for the group and the dogs.
How can you extend your stay in the Sologne after the show?
Stay a day or two longer to see the Sologne of ponds and forest that the show celebrates.
- Maison des Étangs, in Saint-Viâtre, 29 min (24 km) from the cottage: wildlife, plants and fish farming in the Sologne ponds. It is open from 1 April to 31 October in 2026 and dogs are admitted on a lead.
- Maison du Cerf, in Villeny, 36 min (33 km) away: a museum devoted to deer. Check opening days on its website.
- Romorantin-Lanthenay on foot: the town centre is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the house.

Why stay in Romorantin for the Game Fair?
Because the house solves the two problems of the show: finding room for a group and housing a dog. It is 43 min (41 km) from Lamotte-Beuvron, on the D922 then the D923.
You have 3 bedrooms for 6 people (2 double beds, 2 single beds), a fitted kitchen, free private parking and a terrace with a barbecue and a table for 6. Bed linen and towels are provided. In the evening you come back to peace and quiet, away from the traffic leaving the show.
Check-in is from 5 pm and check-out before 10 am. Allow €130 a night for 4 guests, taxes and fees included: see rates and June availability.
